The 5 Busiest Places In the World

Busy places usually mean the city or establishment is doing something right. Rather than shying away from the bustling crowds, we should pay more attention to the busiest places on earth. If you thought Grand Central Station was a busy place, check out these worldwide busiest hot spots for their non-stop action.

1. Tokyo's Kitchen
Tokyo's Kitchen is an outdoor, open air market for ready made meals and market shopping at it's best. Serving more than 12 million people every day, Tokyo's Kitchen takes first place as the busiest place on earth.

2. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
Airports always seem to be jammed packed to the hilt, however, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia takes the cake as the world's most busiest airport. According to passenger and flight data recorded by the Airports Council International, Hartsfield-Jackson serves more than 82,000,000 passengers a year. Second place goes to Beijing, third to Chicago's O' Hare, and surprisingly, busy London Heathrow Airport takes fourth place.

3. Ontario Highway 401
Freeway travels are not always the fastest route, especially when every other commuter in the city wants the road when you do. The record for the busiest highway in North America goes to the King's Highway 401, also called the MacDonald-Cartier Freeway. Serving Ontario, Canada to the Quebec border, more than 500,000 vehicles use this important highway every day, surpassing the legendary traffic on the Santa Monica Freeway in Los Angeles.

4. Shinjuku Station
Trains are a popular mode of travel for dependable and affordable transportation, and in some places, the more, the merrier. Japan's Shinjuku Station is officially the busiest train line in the world, serving nearly 4 million people every day. Registered in the Guiness Book of World Records, Shinjuku takes it leadership proudly and not only transports the most people, but makes the experience fun and entertaining. The station features underground shopping, arcade games and has over 200 exits.

5. Port of Shanghai
The world's busiest place for cargo shipping used to be the Singapore Port, however, with the increase in China's international trade volume, the Port of Shanghai has taken first place as the world's busiest container port. Shanghai receives more than 29 million units a year, eclipsing Singapore's impressive record now lagging half a million units behind.
